Top 3 Mineral Sunscreens For Tan Skin

For the past few years, I’ve tried (what feels like) a million mineral sunscreens! Mineral sunscreens aka physical sunscreens use titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide to protect from the sun. The problem with this is that some brands can leave a white and ashy cast, especially on tan skin.

Unlike chemical sunscreens, mineral sunscreens don’t absorb into the skin. They sit on top of the skin and reflect the sun’s rays. This makes it a good choice for preventing “mask-ne” because it can act as a protective layer between your skin and your mask.

Do you use mineral sunscreen because you have sensitive skin?

Nope. My skin isn’t THAT sensitive, but if you’re wondering, it’s generally a good option for sensitive skin, babies 6mo+, and those who are pregnant (but, always talk to your doctor!)

Then what’s the reason???

Simply because the skin on my face reacts better to it (although, I have some non-mineral favs too!) and honestly…I just like how it feels. I use a chemical sunscreen for the rest of my body.

Top 3 Mineral Sunscreens For Tan Skin

1. Supergoop Mineral Matte Sunscreen, SPF 40

A 100% mineral, oil-free sunscreen that helps skin looking mattified and poreless. It has a sheer tint to help mask the white cast from a 100% mineral formula. I use this one the most out of the three on this list. And, although it says matte, this sunscreen gives my skin a nice sheen and feels super velvety.

2. Everyday Humans Rose S’il Vour Plait, Gentle Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30

This creamy SPF30 mineral sunscreen is lightweight and fragrance-free to gently shield and soothe sensitive, acne-prone skin. It contains Vitamin E to help moisturize, repair, and fight off free radicals, aloe vera leaf extract to help calm redness and irritation, and rose extract to help tone and soothe the skin. I LOVE those benefits.

3. REN Clean Skincare Clean Screen Mineral, SPF 30

A silicone-free, mattifying mineral SPF 30 made with 22% zinc oxide. The formula contains rice starch to help stop shine and passionfruit seed extract for antioxdants that defend against free radical damage. I love using this one when I’m working out in the sun because it leaves me shine-free.
